John O’Brien BSc, MSc, MA, H Dip Ed.

I am a psychotherapist based in Greystones, with extensive experience supporting both adolescents and adults. My journey into psychotherapy began during my years as a secondary school maths teacher, where I developed a deep interest in mental health and well-being. This passion led me to pursue advanced training and clinical experience to provide compassionate, professional support to those navigating life’s challenges.

I have worked with individuals in diverse settings, including the Student Counselling Service at Trinity College Dublin and the Mater Hospital. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique challenges people face and reinforced my commitment to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

As a member of the Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI), I am committed to creating a safe, confidential space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. My practice is tailored to the unique needs of each individual, with the goal of fostering resilience, insight, and lasting positive change.
